Two representatives from Maryland are aiming for leadership positions in the House. Congressman Steny Hoyer, who is currently the Majority Leader, is going against Congressman James Cyburn (SC), who is currently Majority Whip, for the position of Minority Whip. Congressman Chris Van Hollen has announced his interest in the top Democratic spot on the House Budget Committee. Congressman Van Hollen is currently the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, but is no longer interested in holding this position. Congressman Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will run for Minority Leader and nobody, including Congressman Hoyer, is challenging her.
