CPSIA – Congress clears bill that protects libraries from enforcement

Congress passed a bill (HR 2715) that has resolved the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act and how it impacts libraries.  Basically the lead testing requirements will not apply to ordinary books.  For more information, see the District Dispatch posting.

All of Maryland’s Senators and Representatives voted yes on this bill.  Many thanks to everyone who contacted members of Congress about this issue!  You are encouraged to contact your members of Congress and thank them for resolving this long-standing issue.  You can use Capwiz to do this.
